“To fill every empty plate.”

The Problem
Food insecurity in New York City is at an all-time high. According to the True Cost of Living Report, 50% of working households are struggling to make ends meet. Over 1.2 million New Yorkers, including 1 in 4 children, don't have reliable access to nutritious food. Homelessness is also at its highest levels since the Great Depression, with 87,907 people, including 31,510 children, sleeping in shelters each night. The link between hunger and homelessness is clear: as more people struggle to feed themselves, the rates of homelessness continue to rise.
Our Mission
PlateMate is a student-led nonprofit that is committed to combating food insecurity by providing individuals and families in need with access to nutritious food. Our mission is to promote health, well-being, and dignity for all individuals, regardless of their economic status or background. We believe that everyone deserves the basic necessity of food, and we are committed to bridging the gap between those who have surplus and those who are in need. Through community partnerships and donations, we aim to create a sustainable and equitable solution to food insecurity, with the ultimate goal of fostering a more inclusive and compassionate society.
